2006 Domaine A Merlot

This excellent Tassie Merlot was aged in a combination of 50% new and 50% seasoned French oak barrels for 2 years. Opaque black dark red colour with deep dark red black tinged hue. The nose offers up aromas of ripe blackcurrant intermixed with a touch of dark chocolate followed by some dark plum with undercurrents of leather, cedar and spice. Medium weight the palate still possesses beautiful rich fruit flavours of blackcurrant and subtle dark chocolate which overlay some cedary tobacco like characters, earth and spice. Dryish finish with very fine grained but structural tannins. Long refined blackcurrant, cedary tobacco, earth and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
