2006 Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham Cabernet Sauvignon
Superb black purple colour – a total saturate – with excellent cling to the glass. At first the nose is a touch restrained but quickly evolves with aromas of blackcurrant and spice followed by a touch of cassis and violet. The palate is refined – a little tight to start with – flavours of cassis, blackcurrant, cherry and spice evolve. Fine grained, perfectly balanced tannins. Very long aftertaste of spice, cassis, blackcurrant, cherry ripe.
Cellar 5-8 years (2013-2016)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
Other Reviews…
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard is a glass-coating deep crimson color. It is the most muscular and densely packed of the Cabernets. Opulent, full-bodied, and intensely flavored, the wine has more than enough structure to evolve in the bottle for a decade or more. It should provide pleasure through 2030.
