2006 Clarendon Hills Brookman Merlot

A superb example of Merlot. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue, showing good cling. Top note of mulberry followed by liquorice, black cherry, vanilla, cedar and black pepper – a classic ripe Merlot. The palate continues to impress – flavours of mulberry, spice and black pepper. – driven by the fruit flavour profile rather than any winemaking influences. Fine slightly chalky tannins – perfect balance, followed by an exceptionally long aftertaste. A wonderful refined drink.

The 2006 Bordeaux varietals begin with the 2006 Merlot Brookman Vineyard. Purple colored and glass coating, it offers up scents of smoky oak (it was raised in 100% new oak), tar, cassis, blackberry, and black currant. Velvety-textured and approachable now, it will nevertheless evolve for 5-7 years and drink well through 2020.
