Sebastiano Brini arrived in Australia in 1950. Speaking no English and with only a suitcase and five pounds to his name, within three years he'd saved enough money to buy a soldier settlement in Blewitt Springs. Two thirds of the property was dedicated to dairy cattle, while the final third was planted out to Shiraz vines (six blocks have now been planted between 1947 and 1997). Today, the Brini vineyard is managed by Sebastiano’s sons, John and Marcello, and reflects the spirit that Australia offers all its citizens in reward for hard work - success, and the ability to become competitive on a global scale, whilst retaining individuality of character. Since 2000, Brini have quickly gained critical acclaim, the likes of James Halliday declaring Brini "a new star in the McLaren Vale firmament.”
The 'Limited Release' refers to Brini’s flagship wine, produced from vines planted in 1947 and 1964. The packaging is exactly the same as the standard Brini Sebastian Shiraz, the only distinguishing element being the words “Limited Release”, so be careful which bottle you pick up! Whilst being full bodied and displaying abundant levels of fruit, this wine still maintains a sense of refinement - a trademark characteristic of the Brini reds. Like Clarendon Hills (and unlike most other McLaren Vale producers), only French Oak casks are employed for the maturation of this wine.
Opaque black purple colour with purple crimson hue. Perfumed nose with aromas of mocha, liquorice, dark plum, blackberry
and confectionary – excellent varietal character and intensity. Explosive, mouthfilling palate with flavours of plum, blackberry, spice
and liquorice allsorts, with some confectionary and black pepper persisting on the back palate. Beautifully integrated velvet silk like
tannin structure. Perfectly balanced. Very long, persistent liquorice, spice, confectionary and black pepper aftertaste.
