Totally opaque black purple colour, showing excellent cling. Top note of violets, followed by confectionary, liquorice allsorts with end notes of blackcurrant, cedar and toasted oak. There is plenty of weight on the palate, flavours of plum, spice, cedar and white pepper. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance. Very long spicy aftertaste.

First Tasted, November 2006:
The 2005 vintage produced tighter, more elegant wines. The 2005 Zonte’s Footsteps is a blend of 70% Cabernet and 30% Malbec. Very deep crimson colour with brick red hue. Aroma of ripe plum, spice and liquorice allsorts. The palate has good weight with flavours of ripe plum and spice supported by fine grained tannins, which are on the dry side due to the high Cabernet content. Aftertaste of mocha and dark chocolate.
