Woodstock The Stocks Shiraz is one of McLaren Vale’s great wines and given its pedigree and quality it is still relatively ‘unknown’ compared to some of its neighbouring high flyers.

The winemaking team of Scott Collett and Ben Glaetzer have left a strong footprint on this wine, producing complexity and voluptuousness and adding the ability to mature over the next few years. The fruit is sourced from 100 year old vines planted at Woodstock in McLaren Flat. Fermentation takes place in small open fermenters with maturation in new oak. The winemakers recommend ‘breathing after decanting of older Woodstock The Stocks, in order to help the older wines focus their individual character’.

Opaque black crimson colour with purple hue. Superb nose – lifted top note with perfumed lift. Aroma of vanilla and ripe plum over a violet background. Superb mouthfilling palate, spicy with layers of black pepper, ripe plum, vanilla and a hint of confectionary on the back palate. Fine grained tannins, dryish but perfectly balanced. Very strong and long black pepper, ripe plum and spice aftertaste.
