Woodhenge is the result of a fantasy exposed over a dinner at McLaren Vale’s Salopian Inn. Greg Trott, the late owner of Wirra Wirra wanted to build a post and rail fence on a cyclopean scale, using massive red gum timber sourced from the Flinders Ranges. It was Salopian Inn’s chef, Russell Jeavons who offered to construct the monument with pieces weighing as much as three tonnes!

This wine is an excellent follow up to the 2004 release.

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Perfumed, lifted nose with top note of violet, followed by spice, blackberry and vanilla. The palate has excellent weight and mouthfeel. Flavours of vanilla, plum, spice and light black pepper create a classic ‘joosy’ McLaren Vale palate. Aftertaste of plum, spice, vanilla and liquorice allsorts.
Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)
