2005 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Cabernet Sauvignon

2005 was an outstanding year in Margaret River. The growing season was drier than usual and the days were warm with cool nights – ideal for producing high quality red wines. Very little rain fell between November and March but the clouds gathered in the later stages of vintage and some areas received moderate rainfall, but luckily most reds had been picked and were safely in the hands of the winemaking team by this stage. Made from a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Shiraz.

Very deep black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose with top note of violet, followed by spice, blackcurrant and just a hint of truffle and liquorice allsorts. The palate displays ripe Cabernet fruit flavours of cassis, plum and cedar supported by fine grained tannins. Excellent balance, very long aftertaste of plum, cedar and blackcurrant.
