2005 Two Hands Brave Faces Shiraz Grenache

Two Hands was formed in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible Shiraz from Australia’s top producing Shiraz sites. Proprietors’ Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz philosophy is quite simple “From the beginning, we have set out to build a wine company that is different in its approach, one that is innovative and not afraid to think outside the square. We want to put some fun back into wine.”

Very deep, almost opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Lifted nose of spice, blackberry and raspberry showing strong varietal combination. Mouthfilling palate – flavours of spice, ripe raspberry and liquorice followed by a very spicy black pepper back palate. Excellent weight and mouthfeel. Fine grained tannins. Very good length with plenty of persistence.

A brilliant effort is the 2005 Brave Faces, a small barrel-aged (20% new) blend of 70% Shiraz and 30% Grenache. Flamboyant aromas of black and red fruits, spice box, flowers, and toast are followed by a rich wine with loads of texture and glycerin as well as a heady, full-throttle yet velvety finish. It should drink well for a decade.
