Gamay is the only permitted grape for wines that are produced in the Beaujolais Region, where it reaches perfection growing in granite soils. The technique of carbonic fermentation is used in Beaujolais in order to enhance the fermentation of the wine. The grapes are placed whole, uncrushed, in the fermenting vessel. Fermentation begins within the individual berries resulting in a light fruity wine.

Superb mauve purple colour with deep mauve purple hue. Medium body. Lifted, inky raspberry and spice nose followed by a hint of liquorice, showing impressive maceration carbonic (fermentation with uncrushed berries) character. On the palate flavours of raspberry, spice, liquorice and ink. Fine, dryish tannins, but balanced. Aftertaste of cherry and raspberry.
Cellar 2-3 years (2008-2009)
