2005 St. Johns Road Blood & Courage Shiraz

A totally black purple Shiraz, showing spectacular colour saturation followed by deep black purple hue. Youthful nose with aromas of spice, black pepper, blackberry and liquorice delivering a perfumed lift. Generous, full bodied palate. Flavours of blackberry and liquorice are overlaid with white and black pepper. Joosy texture. Aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years (2009-2010)

From one of my favourite areas in the Barossa, Greenock Creek, and situated next to the high class producer Kalleske, the 2005 Shiraz Blood and Courage exhibits notes of road tar, creme de cassis, blackberries, pepper, and earth. Full-bodied and rich, with superb purity and an exuberant, flamboyant, Barossa style, it should be drunk over the next 10-15 years.
