Former Penfolds chief winemaker John Durval consults to Songlines. The winemaker is David Fatches.
Almost opaque crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Top notes of liquorice, confectionary, cedar and old leather. The palate has good weight and a typical McLaren Vale ‘joosy’ quality. Flavours of liquorice, plum, black pepper, vanilla and confectionary are evident. Fine dryish, but balanced tannins. Aftertaste of vanilla, plum, spice and light leather.
