2005 Sansibar Glentauchers 8 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A youthful Glentauchers, distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2013 with an outturn of 244 bottles. This release is sourced from the German independent bottlers, "Sansibar".

Tasting note: Deep gold. Initial whiffs are slightly alcoholic, acidic. Second pass remains off-key and atypical suggesting scents of curry leaf, turmeric and hints of dried coconut. Ten minutes draws out a malty / fruit-cake edge with hints of cedar wood. Raisin toast too? Soft, semi-sweet entry is followed by attractive flavours of fruit mince pie, clove and cinnamon with the spices surging towards the finish. More fruit bread in the aftertaste? Odd yet interesting.
