Over the Top is meant to be just that. Made by viticulturists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, it is made from the highest quality fruit from 50 year old vines. Matured in the best French oak barriques, the objective is to deliver the finest expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz combining both opulence of flavour and masculinity of structure.

Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Top note of vanilla, plum, spice and blackberry followed by a confectionary and vanilla end note. The palate flavours are mouthfilling with flavours of liquorice, chocolate and spice. Fine grained tannins, perfectly balanced. Very long aftertaste of liquorice, chocolate and spice.
Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

Other Reviews...
The 2005 Shiraz “Over the Top” was aged in French oak. Purple-colored, it is more fragrant and structured than its sibling. Aromas and flavors of spice box, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry permeate this full-bodied Shiraz. Layered and very long, it has enough stuffing to evolve for another 4-6 years and drink well through 2020. The Pertaringa Vineyard was planted in 1970 and subsequently purchased and expanded by Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask beginning in 1980. The vineyard now covers 77 acres, planted primarily to Shiraz with small plots of seven other varietals.
