The Footprint Shiraz is Penny’s Hill Reserve offering – a selection of the very best parcels of fruit from the Penny’s Hill vineyards. For the 2005 vintage it was sourced exclusively from the narrow rows 15-27 of close-planted vines at yields of less than 2 tonnes per acre. Matured in predominantly French oak with a small portion of American oak also employed – 30% was new oak with the balance being 1 and 2 year old oak.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Top note of liquorice allsorts, spice, vanilla and plum followed by end notes of mocha and black pepper. Superb mouthfilling flavours with layers of plum, black pepper, dark chocolate and spice. Fine grained tannins, perfectly balanced. Very long aftertaste of spice, vanilla and blackberry. Only 380 dozen produced.

Retasted...
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep very dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice and blackberry liqueur aromas are overlaid by a prominent earthy cedar component with leather and spice ensuing. Rich liquorice and blackberry flavours are still prevalent on the soft plushly textured palate with nuances of earth, leather, old cedar and spice following up the rear. Cashmere like tannins. Aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, old leather, earthy cedar and spice.
