First produced in 1960 by Max Schubert, Bin 389 is often referred to as ‘Poor man’s Grange’ because components of the blend are matured in the same barrels as the previous vintage of Penfolds Grange.

Sourced from McLaren Vale, Padthaway and Barossa this wine was matured for 13 months in 26% new American oak hogsheads, with the balance in older American oak. Opaque black crimson colour with crimson brick red hue. Lifted nose of cassis, blackcurrant, spice and violet. On the palate, flavours of spice, liquorice, black pepper and stewed fruit are evident. Fine dry tannins. Aftertaste of spice, liquorice and black pepper.
Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
