Tempranillo is Spain’s classic grape, and responsible for making some of the countries best wines. The grapes are thick skinned and are capable of producing deep coloured elegant wines. However, not all examples follow this trend. Tempranillo is named after the Spanish word 'Temprano', meaning 'early', and refers to the fact that the varietal ripens weeks before the other major Spanish grape, Grenache. Research indicates Pinot Noir is a possible ancestor of Tempranillo.

Black purple colour – practically opaque. Top note of black cherry followed by liquorice, confectionary and spice. Big ripe palate flavours, full bodied, with flavours of black cherry and liquorice dominant. Soft acid finish. Aftertaste of cherry spice and liquorice.
Cellar 2-3 years (2008-2009)
