2005 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay

Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Superb nose with lifted notes of cashew, biscuit and white peach followed by a cinnamon spice end note. Mouthfilling palate, explosive flavours of cinnamon, spice, peach, melon and yeast lees, over a layer of toasted oak. Background flavours of roast almond, hazelnut and tropical fruit. Excellent length and depth. Clean finish. Very long aftertaste of hazelnut and peach with spiciness persisting long into the aftertaste.

This is the most purebred and aristocratic of all Australian chardonnays. It has awesome power, grace, depth and finesse; pure grapefruit, nectarine and peach flesh aromas are framed by complex, toasty, grilled nuts; the palate is amazingly concentrated, yet portrays a lightness that is completely beguiling and incredibly long.
