2005 was considered to be an outstanding vintage in the Barossa and winemaker/owner Grant Burge believes this is the best Filsell Shiraz they have ever produced. Sourced entirely from the Filsell vineyards 87 year old vines with yields around 1.5 tonnes per hectare, the wine was matured in new and two year old American and some French oak hogsheads for 20 months before bottling.

A superb example of old vine Shiraz.

Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Superb nose – top note of liquorice, vanilla and spice delivering a perfumed sniff. On the palate flavours of liquorice allsorts, vanilla, spice and black pepper showing excellent spicy oak integration. The back palate blossoms with flavours of liquorice allsorts, confectionary and vanilla with hints of mocha. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance. Aftertaste of mocha, vanilla and dark chocolate.
Cellar 4-5 years (2011-2012)
