Elk Cove has been producing single vineyard pinot noirs since 1979. They use sustainable agricultural practices on all their vineyards, and all fruit is hand harvested.  Just 15 of the 100 planted acres at three vineyard locations are selected for Elk Cove's Single Vineyard wines. These particular sites consistently provide the material proven to  make outstanding wines.  They hold yields to under two tons per acre using severe pruning, shoot thinning, and green harvesting techniques.

The Roosevelt Vineyard, established in 1993,  is planted out with  Pommard clone cuttings from the La Boheme Vineyard.  Soils are well-drained silty loam (Willakenzie) on steep south-facing slopes overlooking Williams Canyon. Single-caned trellising is employed with vines always thinned to one cluster per shoot.

Tasting note: 'Crisp around the edges, but soft and generous at the core, with pretty currant and plum fruit against hints of white pepper and slate, mingling nicely as the finish persists against refined tannins.'
90 points.
