2005 Domaine Bertagna Vougeot Les Petits

The Les Petit vineyard consists of 1.5 acres located in the Premier Cru Appellation of Vougeot. The vines are 45 years old, and are cropped at 45 hecolitres per hectare. This low yield is required to produce pinot of high quality, with a green harvest taking place when the potential yields exceed this level.

The grapes are hand picked, and destalked after sorting. Fermentation occurs incorporating native wild yeasts. Fermentation temperature is controlled, with regular plunging of the cap taking place in order to maximise colour extraction. The wines are barrel aged for 15-18 months in 25% new oak prior to bottling.
