2005 Dog Ridge Vineyard Duck Chase Vineyard Petit Verdot

An excellent example of Petit Verdot. Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Top note of blackberry, liquorice allsorts, spice and stewed fruit. The structure is monumental, with solid, dry, firm tannins supporting equally solid blackberry and liquorice flavours. In spite of its very firm structure the wine is in balance.

First Tasted, March 2007: Totally opaque black crimson colour with purple black hue. Like the Reserve of this wine, the wine clings to the wall of the glass like paint. Perfumed nose of violet, blackcurrant and spice. The palate has excellent weight, big joosy flavours. Fine grained spicy tannins. Flavours of white pepper, blackcurrant, spice and black cherries. Fine dryish tannins persist well into the aftertaste.
