Situated in a unique amphitheatre, at 595 metres above sea-level Dalwhinnie is the highest and most remote of the Pyrenees district vineyards. This is the 26th vintage of Dalwhinnie Shiraz and winemaker/owner David Jones has produced one of his best Shiraz to date. The wine was matured in a combination of 50% French & 50% American oak barriques for a period of 18 months.

Opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. The nose is a delight. Top note of liquorice allsorts, followed by confectionary, spice, violets and blackberry. On the palate, flavours of ripe blood plum are married to spice, black cherry and liquorice flavours. There is some chalkiness evident on the tannins. Aftertaste of blood plum, liquorice and spice.
Cellar 5-8 years (2012-2015)
Alc/Vol: 14.2%

Other Reviews…
Dalwhinnie's shiraz vines are now 30 years old, but even when young they produced outstanding wine. It is no surprise that this vintage should flood the mouth with perfectly ripened black cherry, plum and blackberry fruit, the oak positive but seamless, the tannins likewise. A delicious wine with great mouthfeel, line and length.
