2005 Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay

The Coldstream Reserve Chardonnay is made from a very strict selection of the best grapes, usually with a component from the low yielding 'House Block'. One hundred percent of the wine is barrel fermented in French oak barriques with approx 5-10% of the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation. 2005 was an excellent vintage in the YarraValley resulting in wines with great colour, intense flavour, good structure and excellent natural acid levels.

The nose of this wine displays considerable complexity. Bright straw colour with a hint of green, with pale straw hue. Complex nose of yeast lees, butterscotch, hazelnut, cashew and biscuit, showing strong barrel ferment character. Creamy palate texture. Flavours of hazelnut, cashew and biscuit are very evident on the palate. Excellent weight and mouthfeel, with some citrus background flavours emerging. Long aftertaste of yeast lees, cashew and biscuit. Very Limited stocks.Cellar 3-4 years (2010-2011)Alc/Vol: 14%
