Chateau du Cros is situated on the opposite bank of the Garonne River to Sauternes. Proprietor Michel Boyer maintains that in great years, du Cros can produce as good a wine as any from the other side of the river. Nick Chlebnikowski recalled a visit when Boyer opened a bottle of 1927 Ch. du Cros and compared it next to a 1927 Ch. d’Yquem. He made his point!

Surprisingly, the 2005 du Cros is much less advanced in colour development than the 2007. It shows a brilliant, pale gold colour with pale gold hue. The nose does not quite have the aromatic intensity of the 2007 but still offers up perfumed scents of apricots, peaches, honey and just a hint of spice. Slightly lighter, but showing better overall balance
than 2007, the palate possesses excellent concentration with rich, luscious palate
flavours of honey, ripe tropical fruits, apricots and spice. Excellent length and mouthfeel
with a clean, dry finish and long aftertaste of honey, apricots and spice.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2010-2015)
