Producer note:
Etienne de Montille of Domaine de Montille (see above) is now the Régisseur of this old Domaine. As has been detailed in these pages before, de Montille has made a number of important changes and they are beginning to be reflected in the quality of the wines, particularly the whites but the reds are slowly improving as well. With respect to the 2005 vintage, said that it was the best raw materials that he has ever seen. The reds were left on their fine lees until September and then racked into tank to allow them to continue to slowly refine their tannins but without losing freshness. Most of the range was bottled in February and he wasn't sure when the Nuits would be bottled but probably in May. See Domaine de Montille for more vintage specific comments.

Tasting note:
A distinctly ripe nose of red cherry fruit and hints of cherry liqueur merge into round and muscled medium-bodied flavors that possess a sappy texture, good delineation and plenty of finishing punch. This is delicious, well balanced and carries only the barest hint of rusticity on the nicely persistent finish. Good quality at this level.
