This wine incorporates some slick reflective packaging, where a frontal convict like unshaven image of winemaker Mark Lane reverbs to and equally dubious looking image of his partner in crime Justin Lane. Should one be tempted to spend the afternoon sipping one can imagine that by close to the end of the bottle Mr Lane I and Mr Lane II might start looking like Lois Lane I. Anyhow, gimmicks aside, this is not a bad drop.
Opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Perfumed nose of spice and blackcurrant followed by a hint of liquorice and cedar. Full bodied palate, showing black pepper backbone.
Fine grained tannins, dryish but balanced. Aftertaste of blackcurrant and black pepper.
Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012)
