Winbirra is a tiny, dedicated Pinot Noir producer producing grapes from two properties which are composed of ancient basalt deposits. A worthy follow up to the 2001 Winbirra Pinot. Bright crimson mauve colour with deep crimson hue. The nose is impressive with lifted top notes of violets and cherries giving the nose a perfect lift, followed by a strawberry jam end note. The palate has good weight and develops excellent length and depth of flavour in the glass. Flavours of ripe strawberries are followed by spice and liquorice. Velvet tannins. Long aftertaste of strawberry, spice and cherry.
Cellar 3-4 years (2009-2010)
Alc/Vol: 14.0%
