2004 Wild Rock Gravel Pit Red Merlot Malbec

The nose is impressive, however the palate is short and lean. The grapes were grown in the Gimblett Gravels wine region. Very deep black purple colour with deep purple crimson hue. Aroma of violets and mulberry followed by notes of spice and liquorice allsorts. The tannin structure is very dry, overwhelming the fruit. Plum and stewed fruit characteristics emerge, with fine, dry tannins persisting.
