What happens to bankers when they retire? Well, some grow grapes and make wine. Winemaker and owner Mick Cann established the vineyard in 1994, first planting Shiraz and then adding Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet and Semillon. Production is tiny, with only 500 dozen being made each vintage. The Shiraz is matured in French and Russian oak. To add to the praise of this wine, we tasted the wine 10 days after the initial opening with the wine holding up in remarkable condition, having only scored 1 point less on our Winespider evaluation – 95 points!

A classic Heathcote Shiraz from a great vintage.

Totally opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose of great intensity with aromas of ripe blackberry, liquorice, vanilla and plum, showing strong varietal character. The palate flavour profile is very generous, with mouthfilling flavours of spice, black and white pepper and blackberry. Velvet smooth tannins. Perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of spice, black pepper, plum and liquorice all sorts.
Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 15.1%
