Pol Roger's vineyard ownership extends over the best terroirs of Champagne : Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne et d'Epernay and the Cotes des Blancs. The 2004 Vintage Blanc de Blancs is vinified 100% from Chardonnay grapes selected from the best Crus in the Cote des Blancs: Oiry,Chouilly, Cramant, Avize & Oger and, and is a clear definition of the 'BdB' style, often described as exhibiting "crystalline purity".

An excellent white frothy mousse forms upon pouring into the glass and shows good hold. Once dissipated it reveals a very pale gold base wine colour with an exceptionally fine and very persistent bead. The nose possesses both complexity and intensity with a classic sniff of baked bread and yeast lees characters followed by some cashew, brioche and a refined toastiness. The palate features great refinement and richness within an airy, creamy textured mouthfeel. Flavours of baked bread, yeast lees and toast are followed by some cashew and light citrus. Clean dry finish with a long persistent aftertaste of baked bread, cashew, yeast lees and subtle toastiness. Very Limited stocks.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc 12.5%

Other Reviews…..
I have long held the view that Pol Roger consistently offers the best value for money of all the great Champagne houses, the only agonising question was how to choose between this and the 2004 Vintage Brut. The Blanc de Blancs is 100% Cote des Blancs Grand Crus, and the wine spends nine years on tirage, with hand-riddling (almost extinct these days). Pale quartz-green, this sets the heart racing with its super-finely chiselled purity and elegance, flavours of citrus wrapped in a wedding veil of minerally acidity.
