Very deep, almost opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue.  Aroma of liquorice, vanilla and ripe plum followed by a spice end note.  The nose is a classic McLaren Vale sniff!  The palate is generous with typical ‘joosy’ flavours expected from a top McLaren Vale red – flavours of vanilla, liquorice allsorts, black pepper and spice are evident – totally mouthfilling.  Velvet smooth tannins.  Very long black pepper, liquorice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2011)

First tasted, September 2005:
Totally opaque black purple colour with purple hue. Powerful, lifted nose of spice, blackberry, liquorice and violets followed by a black pepper end note. Mouthfilling palate, flavours of liquorice, blackberry, vanilla and dark chocolate are evident – explosive. A classic big ‘joosy’ McLaren Vale red. Soft tannins. The background is very spicy. Long aftertaste of liquorice, black pepper, plum and blackberry.

Other Reviews...
Spotlessly clean, but sombre black fruit and dark chocolate aromas; a round, supple and generous palate; good tannin and acid balance.
