Mark Day, the winemaker for Koltz, is a small McLaren Vale producer who specialises in making handcrafted wines using the traditional methods of open vat fermentation and basket pressing the fermented wine. “We try to make wines that are individual and reflect our philosophy that wines should be complex but a pleasure to drink at any stage of their evolution'.

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue, almost opaque. Aroma of dried apricot, spice, plum, blackberry and vanilla followed by a liquorice allsorts end note. The palate flavours are generous, with plum, spice and dried apricot flavours, followed by smokey oak. Hints of leather and truffle on the back palate. Fine grained, dry tannins. Aftertaste of leather, liquorice, spice and black pepper.
