Claire and Mike Allan have built a solid reputation for their unique hand crafted wines. The vineyards were established in 1996 in the Wairau Valley in the North East corner of the South Island. The pair have adopted a holistic approach to grape growing which operates under a philosophy of scientifically based minimum impact input viticulture which is designed to optimise the balance between fruit sugars, acid and flavour.
Brilliant waterlike colour with straw tinge. Lifted nose of gooseberry, both ripe and unripe and tropical fruit, followed by a grassy endnote. The palate is mouth filling, with the flavours being perfectly balanced. Ripe and unripe gooseberries persist followed by a hint of passionfruit and lemon. Perfect balance with crisp acid finish and long aftertaste of ripe and unripe gooseberry. Magnificent!
