Following on from the hugely successful release of the 2005 Advertiser / Hyatt Wine of the Year, the 2004 Heartland Shiraz, the team at Heartland have released their flagship wine from the same vintage, the 2004 Heartland Directors Cut Shiraz.

Master winemaker Ben Glaetzer has crafted yet another outstanding wine.

The 2004 Heartland Directors Cut is composed of a 60% blend of fruit from Langhorne Creek and 40% from Limestone Coast. The fruit was harvested at night and crushed into 2 tonne open, stainless steel fermenters. The wine has been matured in 70% new Allier oak and 30% new Kentucky, resulting in a wine of great palate weight and depth.

Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose of spice, violets and vanilla, delivering a superb sniff. The palate has excellent weight and depth with very spicy white pepper, liquorice strap, plum and vanilla flavours. An excellent mouthfilling experience following on from the very successful 2002 and 2003 releases. Fine grained tannins, showing perfect balance. Very long aftertaste of black pepper, liquorice allsorts, plum and spice.
