2004 Domaine Grand Nicolet Cotes du Rhone

The wine is composed of a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Carignan. The Grenache is from 25-30 year old vines whilst the Carignan is from 40 year old vines. Excellent opaque black purple colour with deep purple hue. The nose is a touch subdued, with notes of liquorice, raspberry and spice emerging. The wine has good weight and balance, with fine dryish tannins. Flavours of raspberry, cherry and liquorice emerge with a hint of pepper. Very good length. Aftertaste of spice and liquorice.
