2004 De Bortoli Gulf Station Chardonnay

Retasted: A commercial Chardonnay. Bright straw colour with pale straw hue. Subtle nose, with biscuit, melon, cashew and fig top notes, followed by a light yeast lees end note. The palate flavour profile is light, lacking depth. Flavours of lemon and citrus emerge. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of light lemon.

First Tasted, 27/01/2006: Bright straw colour with green haze. The nose reveals a hint of biscuit and yeast lees followed by hazelnut and cashew. The palate flavour profile is short – flavours of citrus lemon and grapefruit emerge followed by a touch of honeycomb on the back palate. The acidity needs to back off, which will happen with time. Aftertaste of honeycomb and lemon.
