2004 Dalton Canaan (Mevushal / Kosher) Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay White Riesling

Dalton Winery is located in the Upper Galilee region of North Israel, in close proximity to the Lebanese border.  Miraculously the vineyards and winery were not scathed by the 70 rockets that fell in the area during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon Conflict.  Despite the risks, the winery maintained dedicated to the vineyard during the harvest, geared up with helmets and flak jackets.  

The winemaking team have close ties with Australia.  Chief winemaker, Naama Mualem joined Dalton in 2002 after graduating from Roseworthy in Adelaide.  Naama works closely with Australian born and educated international wine consultant, John Worontschak.  Worontchak is a graduate of Charles Sturt University with experience with some of the big names of the industry, Penfolds and Hugel of Alsace, France.

Tasting Note: A Kosher wine categorized as Mevushal for export – Kosher for Passover.

Bright pale straw colour with water like hue.  The nose is very delicate, with light tropical fruit top notes.  The Sauvignon Blanc component is almost neutral, followed by delicate citrus and tropical fruit end notes.  The palate displays a clean finish, with delicate flavours of citrus, confectionary and tropical fruit.  A light wine that should be very lightly chilled.
