The wines of Coriole have become benchmarks in McLaren Vale, reflecting the consistency of quality that the district is capable of delivering.

The original vineyard dates back to 1919, which the Lloyd family secured when they purchased the property in 1967. Further planting took place in the 1960’s and 1990’s with the main variety being Shiraz. The McLaren Vale terroir is influenced by the maritime climate, with windy, cool winters followed by warm to hot, dry summers. Winemaker Mark Lloyd and Grant Harrison use traditional winemaking techniques with fermentation taking place in open tanks, with hand plunging and pump overs of must. Oak maturation is usually for 1 year, with 25%-35% of the wine being kept in new American and French oak.

Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Superb Cabernet nose – lifted violet top notes followed by blackcurrant and cedar. Generous palate with excellent ripe Cabernet flavours of blackcurrant, cedar and spice perfectly integrated with a touch of liquorice and mocha. Fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of liquorice, cedar and mocha.
