Opaque black crimson colour with black purple hue showing impressive cling to the glass walls.  Superb lifted nose with violet top notes followed by blackcurrant and cedar.  The palate continues to be more restrained than the comparative wine from the previous year, however it appears to be a feature of the 2004 wines.  Flavours of blackcurrant and liquorice allsorts appear on the palate.  Fine dry, chalky tannins.  Aftertaste of blackcurrant and liquorice allsorts.
Cellar 8-10 years (2014-2016)
Alc/Vol: 14%

Robert Parkers Review:
A blockbuster effort fashioned from 40-year-old vines, the sensational, dense purple/black-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard (550 cases produced) exhibits a spectacular nose of black currant jam intermixed with melted licorice, cedar, spice box, and a hint of high quality cigar smoke. With great intensity as well as structure, this classic Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the finest I have ever tasted from Australia. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+
