Bright crimson mauve colour with crimson mauve hue. Medium body. The nose displays top notes of spice, followed by violet and a hint of confectionary. On the palate flavours of morello cherry, followed by a hint of liquorice and ripe plum, creating the sensation of a ‘joosy’ mouthfeel. Well balanced, soft tannins. Aftertaste of cherry, liquorice and ripe plum.

First tasted, March 2007: A big but balanced example of Shiraz and Durif. Very deep mauve purple colour with deep mauve hue. Top note of plum and spice, followed by liquorice allsorts, stewed fruit and cherry. The palate reveals flavours of ripe plum and stewed fruit, followed by liquorice, spice and oak evident. On the back palate. Fine dryish tannins. Inky, cherry, spice and liquorice aftertaste.
