The Bass Phillip Vineyard was established in 1996 with the Pinot vines being close planted at 9000 vines per Ha. Yields are typically around 1.5 tonnes per acre. This is a very light coloured Pinot – translucent brick red colour with brick red hue. Lifted nose, showing a good deal of varietal character – which can happen even in a light Pinot. Notes of beetroot, spice, cherry and strawberry emerge, with just a hint of stalk. The palate flavours are light, with flavours of cherry and spice emerging. Modest power. Soft tannins. Cherry, spice aftertaste.
