2003 Veritas Winery Christa Rolf Shiraz Grenache

A generous follow on to the 2002 wine. Opaque black crimson colour with purple crimson hue. Lifted nose of vanilla, raspberry, blackberry and plum. The palate is full bodied with plenty of ripe fruit flavours. Flavours of liquorice, raspberry, plum and spice followed by a hint of black pepper and earth. Fine grained tannins. There is a sense of mintiness emerging on the back palate followed by spice, mint and raspberry aftertaste. – with the spiciness on the aftertaste continuing for some time.

First Tasted August 2004:
Opaque black purple colour with deep purple hue. Aroma of liquorice, mocha and spice, followed by hints of raspberry, anise and dark chocolate. Generous flavours of chocolate and ripe raspberries are overlaid with plum and liquorice. Full bodied, moderate length, but without great depth of flavours. Aftertaste of spice, raspberry, mocha and liquorice supported by fine tannins.
