2003 Te Mania Reserve Pinot Noir

An impressive Pinot Noir. Bright crimson colour with crimson mauve hue, showing excellent colour extraction. Medium body. The nose displays distinct varietal character with aroma of violets, black cherries and spice followed by hint of anice on the back palate. The palate has weight and velvet texture, with flavours of spice, black cherry and blackpepper emerging. Moderate palate length. Aftertaste of liquorice, spicy oak and black cherry, and just as one considers it to be all over, the spiciness kicks in again.
