2003 Te Mania Pinot Noir

This wine was produced from fruit grown on the Waimea Plains in Nelson. Crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. Aroma of strawberry, cherry and spice followed by a hint of game. The palate reveals flavours of spice, strawberry and cherry, with back palate flavours of spice and liquorice. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of spice and strawberry.

First tasted, March 2005:
Semi translucent crimson mauve colour with mauve hue. The nose reveals distinct varietal characteristics with notes of toasted oak, violets, strawberry and black cherry. The palate has good weight with flavours of cinnamon, spice, black cherry and plum emerging, followed by a very spicy back palate. Subtle hint of stalkiness followed by fine grained soft tannins and a long aftertaste of spice and charry oak.
