During the 2003 growing period it was observed that a group of vines in the centre of the Tatiarra vineyard were growing more vigorously than neighbouring vines. These vines were isolated by marking them with a pink ribbon and the development of the fruit and the vines behaviour was monitored. The fruit was harvested, fermented and matured separately. On the blending bench, the wine varied too significantly in style for inclusion with the main blends and was subsequently bottled together with any barrels that were unsuited to the flagship Tatiarra blends. Having said all that, there would be many a winemaker that would be very pleased with the result, however, at Tatiarra, the company has set its sights very high and is not prepared to compromise.

Tasting Notes: Very deep crimson colour with crimson purple hue. Lifted, aromatic nose, with aroma of raspberry, violets, blackberry and spice. The structure is quite elegant and is held together by a distinct black pepper flavour that runs through the palate and well into the aftertaste. The palate reveals flavours of plum and black pepper over spice and cedar. Fine grained tannins, with very long aftertaste of raspberry, blackberry and black pepper.
