An outstanding result from St Hallett. Winemaker Stuart Blackwell goes to great lengths to gain as much complexity as possible in this wine. Fruit is sourced from a variety of Barossa Valley sub regions from vineyards varying in age between 10-80 years old. These parcels are then matured in a combination of new, one and two year old Amercian oak for 20 months, with several rackings during that time.
Opaque black purple colour with deep purple hue. The nose is superb, lifted notes of vanilla, blackberry and violets. The palate has weight and depth of flavours, however it is a touch more elegant than the 2002 vintage. Flavours of black and white pepper emerge, followed by flavours of vanilla, blackberry and liquorice. Excellent length. Fine grained, perfectly balanced tannins. Very long aftertaste of spice, black and white pepper.
