First tasted, September 2004:
The Somerbury Estate vineyard was established by the FREWER family in 1997. Bright crimson mauve colour with deepened mauve hue: Medium body. The nose reveals impressive varietal character. Notes of spice, strawberry jam and cloves. The palate has good weight and depth, with flavours of spice and strawberry followed by clove back palate. Moderate power wave. The wine will gain complexity with further aging. Aftertaste of cloves, black cherry and spice.
