2003 Shaw & Smith Merlot

Very deep brick red colour with crimson brick red hue. Medium body. Aroma of mulberry, spice and plum. The palate starts off well, with flavours of plum and stewed plum and a hint of mulberry, but is overtaken by dry tannins, which are too dry and too chalky. Some spice and liquorice characteristics emerge on the end palate.
