2003 Red Edge Jacksons Vineyard Shiraz

This is a most unusual blend. The Shiraz component are sourced from young vines and has been blended together with a small edition of Mouvedre, and incredibly, Riesling. Opaque black crimson colour with black purple hue. The Riesling component does not diminish the saturated colour of the black/red at all. Aroma of tropical fruit (from the Riesling), followed by liquorice allsorts, leather, earth, black pepper and spice. The Riesling component is again evident on the palate, and whilst the combination is unusual, it works. Flavours of tropical fruit, plum and stewed plum are evident. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of plum and stewed fruit.
